Run Claude Code from iPhone

Claude Code does not install on iPhone. It runs on a Mac, Linux host, or VPS you control — usually inside tmux. SSHaven is the native SSH client and pilot board so you can leave those agents running and get pinged when they need you.

Can you run Claude Code on iPhone?

No. Claude Code is a host-side CLI. There is no App Store build that executes the agent on the phone. The working setup is: start Claude Code (or Codex, Aider, OpenCode) on a machine you SSH into, keep the process in tmux so it survives disconnects, then attach from iOS.

SSHaven does not replace Claude, Codex, or Anthropic’s own Remote Control chat. It connects over SSH to hosts you configure and treats those tmux sessions as a fleet you can pilot from iPhone, iPad, or Android — one board for every session. The setup that actually works

  1. On the host: install Claude Code where the repo already lives.
  2. Start it in tmux so the process keeps running when the phone sleeps.
  3. On the phone: add the host in SSHaven, authenticate with a password or SSH key stored in the iOS Keychain, and attach to that session.

Optional install recipes on sshaven.app can bootstrap common agent CLIs and tmux via the usual package managers. Nothing is installed until you consent. You can skip recipes and run any command in a managed tmux session.

What SSHaven adds over a raw SSH terminal

A generic SSH app gives you a PTY. SSHaven also shows a pilot board for remote agents:

  • Running — the remote process is active.
  • Checking — still reading the session.
  • Needs you — wait-for-input or approval style prompts. This is why the phone stays in your pocket.
  • Finished — the agent process is gone.

Browse by server, project tag, or agent type. Leave several Claude / Codex sessions on different machines without killing remote work when you switch tabs.

Remote Control vs a real terminal

Anthropic’s Remote Control is a chat check-in into a local Claude Code process from the Claude iOS app. That is the right tool when you only need Claude, on a supported login, and a conversation UI is enough.

Use SSHaven when you want a live SSH shell: mixed agents (Claude, Codex, OpenCode, a custom command), tmux across servers, LAN hosts, and keys that stay on-device. Remote Control is not a multiplexer client and is not an SSH client.
